Crooner to swoon for

LIMERICK’s King of Swing, ultimate crooner and Rat Pack refugee, Liam O’Brien returns to Dolan’s for his Crooning at Christmas concert. This show is in its seventh year and began as an intimate affair in Dolan’s Upstairs venue. O’Brien’s clamouring fanbase ensured a move to The Warehouse some years back and there he will sway to the rhythm this Saturday 22, 8pm. Anyone who has supported Croonings past will testify as to the voice, glamour and suave charisma that got Dean Martin the babes and the millions. O’Brien can walk the walk.

Having played the show in theatres from  Georgian House back in 2004 to University Concert Hall, he is set to tour this season with Crooning at Christmas, dates in Dublin and Tipperary long booked.
As usual, this singer/ actor/ director/ Bottom Dog Theatre producer will be backed by the Million Dollar Swing Band. Expect harmony and musicianship from American double bass player Peter Hanagan, a man who used play with Norah Jones in his native New Mexico. Boris Hunka of Hunka’ Burning Love is on keyboard and Ken Hinchy will soar on the sax.
The chantooses? Special guests for Dolan’s Warehouse are Lisa Bresnan and the incredible gospel voice of Kathleen Turner, each possessed of style and chutzpah.
A more extensive tour of Crooning at Christmas is on hold due to Liam O’Brien’s world tour with Edward Hall’s Propeller Theatre Company. Taking on the role of Feste in the prolific Hall’s ‘Twelfth Night’ has seen the Ennis Road man sing and play music to over 15,000 people in the UK, Paris and Girona so far.
Propeller Theatre Company will tour to the US, Britain, Italy, Germany and Denmark next year until August.
Limerick, we’re lucky to have Mr Liam O’Brien on our doorstep now. Get away from the jingle bell ditties and show up to be wooed by this crooner and co.
