Lisa Cannon calls on the people of Limerick to get walking for Irish Guide Dogs

Lisa with kids runningLisa Cannon put her best foot forward to launch the National Walk for Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind taking place on Sunday June 9th and is calling on the people of Limerick to do the same. The Xpose star is encouraging people to embark on a sponsored walk in their area or to organise their own walk to get active while also raising funds for Irish Guide Dogs.

“I hope people will join in or organise a walk on the 9th June for a fantastic cause,” said Lisa, speaking at the launch. “Irish Guide Dogs make such a massive difference in people’s lives and give many people much-needed independence that they wouldn’t have otherwise. The work that goes into training the dogs, as well the dogs themselves, is just awe-inspiring.” Lisa herself is taking part in her local Irish Guide Dogs walk in Cabinteely, Dublin.

A sponsored walk is taking place in Limerick City on Sunday 9th June. Organised by locals John Ryan, Sharon Davis, Tracey Keyes and Lion’s Club Member, Kieran Horgan, the walk begins at 3pm at the Pavillion car park at the North Campus in the University of Limerick (UL) grounds. The walk is all within the UL grounds and will take approximately 45 minutes. Dogs are of course welcome!

A full list of this and other registered walks is available on www.guidedogs.ie. To organise your own walk, contact Jennifer on Jennifer@guidedogs.ie or call 1850 506300.  Walkers are asked to donate €5 (€10 for families) and sponsorship cards are available from Irish Guide Dogs. Funds raised from the walks will be used to provide Guide Dogs and other services for visually impaired people and Assistance Dogs to families of children with autism.
