St Gabriel’s comedy classic

CHANGING Times Theatre Company and staff at St Gabriel’s School, Dooradoyle are new associates for an evening of theatre this Friday June 21. Taking place at South Court Hotel in Raheen from 8.30pm, supporters can anticipate the show, ‘The Worst Day of my Life’, a supper buffet, The Great Padini magician and “lots more”.

‘The Worst Day of my Life’ was written by Alan Richardson and it’s said to be a witty comedy. Evelyn Kileen McCrann directs for Changing Times, a story about Charlie Murphy’s disaster of a day in hospital, surrounded by female visitors.

The whole evening is a fundraiser for St Gabriel’s School for Children with physical and multiple disabilities; €20 at the door or from the school.

Classical concert

AN evening concert will take place on Friday June 28 at St. Michael’s Church, Pery Square, Limerick at 8pm, its programme comprised of favourites by Mendelssohn, Bizet, Puccini,Novello, Morricone and more.

“The artistes include soprano singers Helen Houlihan and Lauren Hannon, mezzo-soprano  Edel O’Brien and flute player Susan O’Leary,” Colin Marsden of St Michael’s says. “The Mid-West Vocal Academy Choir and the Watch House Cross Community Choir  will also perform. The conductor is Timothy Schinnick and Irina Dernova will accompany on the piano and organ”.

Proceeds are for the Chancel Window repair project at church, est.  1844. Tickets on the door.

Skadoonvarna skite

LISDOONVARNA will host a Ska and Reggae Festival Friday July 5 to Sunday 7 as part of celebrations for the second anniversary of the Burren Brewery at The Roadside Tavern. Look forward to music from six different bands:The Naildrivers, The Bionic rats, The Little Beauties, Skazz, The Moonshiners and Serious Mischief, plus Ska D.J. Tommy Rash.

According to Skadoonvarna festival promoter Philippa Siegrist, access to all this music over three days is free “and there will be plenty of delicious Burren Brewery beer and Carribbean cuisine. Skadoonvarna is not to be missed!”
