Court ruling halts airport strike

20140310-090110.jpgA High Court judge yesterday granted an injunction to the Dublin Airport Authority and Ryanair to prevent a four-hour strike by SIPTU members as the start of St Patrick’s bank holiday weekend.

The strike was predicted to cause huge disruption at Shannon, Dublin and Cork airports.

The DAA told the court that it would suffer catastrophic and irreparable damage, as well as millions of euro in losses, if the action went ahead.

SIPTU defended its entitlement to take strike action in pursuit an agreement on the deficit in their members pension scheme.
