TWO young legal eagles from the University of Limerick soared to national acclaim when they were judged winners of The Advocate – the All-Ireland business law challenge in the Four Courts last week.

After four rounds of intense competition, the UL team of Rosemary Lynch and Ross Mullane, were crowned the winners of The Advocate Challenge when they defeated a strong UCC team in the final.

Sponsored by leading law firm McCann Fitzgerald, The Advocate is open to all third level law and business law students in Ireland and offers them the opportunity to convince a panel of judges that they understand the crucial commercial issues of the day.

Co-sponsored by the Courts Service and the Northern Ireland Courts and Tribunals Service, The Advocate offers budding lawyers the chance to compete against other top legal students from around the country and win a summer internship with Ireland’s top law firm, McCann FitzGerald. The winning team also shares a prize fund of €3,000.

Chairman of McCann FitzGerald, John Cronin commented, “Rosemary and Ross are very worthy winners. This year saw a very high calibre of competitors from all over Ireland and the entries highlight again the wealth of legal talent that is coming through.”
