SINN Féin hopeful Ciara McMahon, who has been selected to run in the Adare/Rathkeale electoral area, believes that women have a significant role to play in Iocal government.

Twenty six-year-old Ciara also feels that councillors have a vital role to play in their communities and she promises to help raise her electoral area from the recession if she wins a seat after May 23. A native of Athea, she is also a member of her local Vintage Club, Wren Boys and has many years experience in planning and coordinating youth activities.

Ciara has a BA Honours Degree in Theology and Philosophy and has helped many people with a variety of problems while working in the Sinn Féin constituency office.

“Sinn Féin can be a force of change for the better but it must begin at the local level. Local government must be the leader in a drive to improve the quality of life and the standard of living for the people of Limerick, and in particular the Adare/Rathkeale electoral area,” said Ms McMahon.

“I believe positive change can start at local council level. I will be meeting the people of the area over the next two months and asking them to vote for me as it’s time for a new, fresh, vigorous voice in local politics, and especially for the voice of a committed young woman,” she concluded.
