Kileely households told not to drink tap water

waterUP TO 400 residents in Kileely have been told that their water is unsafe to drink.

The notice, given by Irish Water this Tuesday, comes on foot of a similar warning given to hundreds of Ballynanty residents in recent weeks.

In the notice issued to the homes, residents and home occupiers were advised to drink the water due to the occurrence of lead in the supply coming the taps.

While the water can be used for flushing toilets, laundry bathing and showering, households have been similarly advised to homes in Ballynanty not drink the water, not to use it for diluting drinks or to cook with as the content of lead can not be removed through boiling.

A standpipe has been made available at St Munchin’s Resource centre for homeowners to obtain drinking water on a temporary basis.
