Sweet Grandmother

10514195_422793291192576_5817218484748458196_oTHE ROYAL de Luxe Grandmother has been described as a sweet old dear and a Limerick company has picked up the theme and turned her into a life-size cake.

And knowing that the Grandmother wants to make people happy, Limerick business, Hook and Ladder in Sarsfield Street is inviting people to come in a take a “grelfie” – that’s a selfie with the Granny cake – and make a small donation to Support Pieta House.

“We wanted to do something to support the visit, so we put our heads together and came up with the cake idea,” said Sarah Maloney, who looks after marketing for the business.

Hook and Ladder have a cookery school, cafe and accessories business so the cake idea fit right in.

Three chefs got to work on the Grandmother cake, Rosemary Dillon of Rosemary’s Cakes, Yvonne Sheehan of Bondy Rose Bakery and Susan Graham of Susan’s Crafty Cakes.

They used chocolate truffle, chocolate biscuit cake and rice crispy treats to make up their super-sweet Granny.
