Putting Mungret on the Tourist Trail

By Stephen Falvey

Mungret Heritage Society in collaboration with Limerick City & County Council have just installed a series of nine information panels to make both visitors and the local community more aware of the great heritage that Mungret has to offer.

At its height Mungret was one of the most important monastic settlements in Ireland.

Eight beautifully illustrated panels are located around the monastic site and the ninth is in the village. The project was largely funded by West Limerick Resources under the LEADER scheme.

Sarah McCutcheon, Executive Archaeologist, Limerick City and County Council will present the panels, their rationale, purpose and content, in Mungret College Tuesday October 14 at 8pm.
