LIMERICK City Gallery of Art extends an open invitation this Saturday November 1 to attend 3-4pm when visual artist Elaine Byrne will discuss the work of Frederick Kiesler, her art practice and solo exhibition RAUMPLAN. RAUMPLAN, curated by former gallery director Helen Carey, occupies the first floor chambers of the Pery Square gallery.
According to LCGA “Superimposition, Simultaneity, Intertwining – 1920s architect Frederick Kiesler’s architectural and spatial interrogations are the platforms for Elaine Byrne’s mixed media exhibition, from where she examines how we live and how could we live better.
“Phrased as endless and circular questions, Byrne asks in what way is our humanity revealed in how we live in the 21st century. In a deft sculptural gesture, Byrne continues Kiesler’s quest to reconcile nature and architecture in attempting to build Kiesler’s unrealised life project – the Endless House”.
