Food hampers and hospital packs to be distributed to Limerick families in need

-

BOI Charity LK 03STAFF across the 12 branches of Bank of Ireland in Limerick are partnering with the local St Vincent de Paul this Christmas as part of the Bank’s nationwide Give Together campaign.

Give Together is Bank of Ireland’s charity and community initiative, and this Christmas the Bank is coordinating a nationwide fundraising and volunteering effort to support St Vincent de Paul.  As part of the partnership, Bank of Ireland staff have committed to provide hundreds of hampers, hospital packs, hostel bags and wish-list presents to help SVP meet the need they face in communities across Ireland.  The Bank is also encouraging staff to use their ‘Give Together’ volunteering day to volunteer with SVP locally to help support their work.  All funds raised and items donated by the Limerick staff will be distributed locally by St Vincent de Paul.

SVP National President Geoff Meagher said:  “The calls for assistance this year remain stubbornly high, twice what they were five years ago.  Consequently, funds to provide assistance to so many families, particularly at this time, of year are badly needed.   The support of the Bank of Ireland and its staff will help ensure that those in the greatest need can also celebrate this festive season.  We are very appreciative of the effort that is being put into this campaign from the Bank staff right throughout the country”

David McDonnell Area Manager, Bank of Ireland said:

“We are delighted to have partnered with St Vincent de Paul this Christmas and are encouraging all of our staff in branches across Limerick to show their support by volunteering and fundraising to support SVP.  With the Bank making a financial contribution towards all funds raised, together we hope to make a real contribution to St Vincent de Paul’s Christmas appeal.”

The charitable partnership will be celebrated on 13th December when Bank of Ireland hosts a Christmas Market in aid of St Vincent de Paul in College Green Dublin, and the country’s largest Christmas Giving Tree – measuring an impressive 30 feet – will be lit.

In 2014, Bank of Ireland staff in Limerick raised €48,000 for charity as part of Give Together.

Audrey Nolan, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility, Bank of Ireland explained:

“Through Give Together, Bank of Ireland is enabling our staff to support a range of flagship charities, or a cause of their own choice, by fundraising, volunteering or donating.  Colleagues are supported through the provision of one day’s paid leave for volunteering, and the Bank also makes a financial contribution towards all money raised.  The Bank also lends its broader support to the flagship charities and continues to provide support to the charitable sector in general.  So far this year, through the combined efforts of our employees and Give Together support, over €2.2 million has been paid out to the benefit of worthy causes in every community where we do business and over 500 volunteering days have been used.”

Give Together – Bank of Ireland’s charity and community initiative – enables staff to lend support to one of four flagship charities, or support their own cause, through fundraising, volunteering or donating. The Bank provides one day’s paid leave for volunteering, and also makes a financial contribution towards employee fundraising.
