A MAN seen entering the water near Barringtons Hospital at George’s Quay in Limerick this Monday evening was swam to safety by two swift water swimmers from the Limerick City Fire and Rescue service during the emergency.

In what was described as treacherous conditions during a full rush of fast flowing waters, the rescue was scrambled after 7pm this Monday when the alarm was raised after the middle aged man was seen at the quayside.

The man was swam to safety over to Merchants Quay near the Curragower Boat Club by the rescue swimmers and was taken by ambulance to hospital where he is to be treated.
