ELEANOR O’Brien from Clarina has been selected from amongst hundreds of youth volunteers from across Ireland to receive an award in recognition of the exemplary work she carries out in her local community at the 2015 Pramerica Spirit of Community Awards. A sixth year student at Salesian College in Pallaskenry, Eleanor was inspired to become a Community Games volunteer through participating in the initiative herself at a younger age. For nine months of the year, Eleanor is involved in supervising a number of activities including cross-country, athletics and art, as well as organising fundraising events. She received €500 for a charity of her choice and a gold medallion from guest of honour and RTÉ rugby pundit Brent Pope.
