THE Acoustic Club welcomes special guest Mick Hanly this Thursday August 6. The open mic session is a non profit gig welcoming aspiring songwriters, musicians and singers to play in front of a live audience.

Mick Hanly was born into a music loving family in Limerick. He was inspired by mid-50s’ rock ‘n’ roll before he became more interested in folk in the ’60s. He went on to perform and record with Donal Lunny, Andy Irvine, Matt Molloy, Paddy Glackin, and Declan Sinnott.

In the ’80s he became lead singer with Moving Hearts after Christy Moore left. He subsequently turned to country music, and became a singer-songwriter for artists such as Mary Black and Hal Ketchum (‘Past the Point of Rescue’ reached the top 10 in the US charts). Garth Brooks called him “one of the best songwriters around – his songs are real, they mean something.”

The Acoustic Club takes place every Thursday at The White House hosted by songwriter Sean MacLeod. All aspiring songwriters, musicians and singers are invited to attend and play in front of a live audience.
