Soccer – Weather the winner as Junior Soccer games hit

RP0047026THE WEATHER proved to be the spoil-sport over the last two weekends, as a host of games were called off. However on Sunday last, a number of top games got the green light. The big fixture saw Carew Park host Janesboro in the Munster Junior Cup with the winners going into the out of town stage of this trophy. Right from the kick off Shane O’Hanlons charges took control and at the end of a very exciting 90 minutes of football it was Janesboro who emerged three nil winners. Their exciting young striker Aaron Nunan notched a brace as Shane Clarke also netted in the victory.
On the league front, it was close neighbours and those great sporting rivals that clashed in the premier with Paul O’Donnells Fairview Rangers entertaining Pike Rovers.
In what turned out to be a nip and tuck clash it resulted in a two nil win for Fairview with Bobby Tier and Colin Scanlon notching the vital goals.
Regional also emerged winners in the Premier Division on a 4-1 score-line, seeing off Moyross, as Garbhan Coughlan struck twice and Ollie O Driscoll and Shane O Gorman all on the mark for the Dooradoyle based Club.
While in Division 1A, in the O’Halloran Cup, Nenagh eased by Charleville and in other league football Murroe and Kilmallock bagged full points from their division 1A league games as it was Holycross and Regional were victors in division 1B. Shannon Hibernians got full points in their games in division 2A while in 2B Abbey saw off Janesboro and in the Open Cup St Pats got the better of Coonagh.
In the FAI Youth Cup it was Nenagh and Regional that booked their place in the next round.
On this coming weekend weather permitting its league football in all local divisions.
