LIMERICK GAA fans are in for a busy few days as both the hurlers and footballers are in action.
Indeed, TJ Ryan’s men are set to play two games in four days. Limerick face Cork on Sunday 17 in Mallow at 2pm in the Munster Senior hurling league, with the refixed clash with Waterford down for decision on Tuesday January 19 at 7.30pm, also in Mallow.
The clash with Waterford, originally set for Sunday last in Carriganore, was cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch. Ryan is expected to use the full panel available to him over the two games. When considering that the Na Piarsaigh stars are still in preparation with their club for the upcoming All Ireland semi final against Oulart-The Ballagh on February 6, Ryan will get a chance to see most of his squad in action in the next two weekends.
On the football front, Limerick play Waterford in Rathkeakle this Sunday at 2pm.
The game, to be refereed by David Grogan of Tipperary, will again see John Brudair experiment with his panel. Having lost out narrowly to Cork in the opening round of the new look McGrath Cup, Brudair knows that qualification for the final of this year’s competition is now beyond them. However the clash with Waterford will serve as yet another chance to prepare his charges for the opening round of the National Football league which sees Limerick take on Tipperary on Sunday January 31 in the Gaelic Grounds.
