AFTER the mid-season break, Limerick FC return to league action on Friday evening when they make their inaugural visit to Stradbrook to take on Cabinteely (kick-off 7:45pm).
The Super Blues travel to Dublin with a 14-point lead at the top of the First Division, having dropped only two points all season, that in their last game against Drogheda United earlier this month. Eddie Gormleyโ€™s Cabinteely are bottom of the table and were beaten 3-0 when they visited the Markets Field in mid April.
Martin Russellโ€™s Limerick played two games during the mid-season interval. Last Friday they took on local Premier Division champions Carew Park at the Markets Field in the first-ever Charity Cup, with proceeds from the game going towards Kieran Hanlon, Amber Oโ€™Halloran and family. In their final game under Albert Slatteryโ€™s management, Carew won 2-1 thanks to goals from Mark McGrath and Jamie Oโ€™Sullivan after Paul Oโ€™Conor had put Limerick ahead.
The Super Blues then ventured north to The Showgrounds for a friendly against Sligo Rovers, who defeated the First Division leaders 2-1. Raffaele Cretaro and Kieran Sadlier gave the hosts a two-goal lead before half-time, with Stephen Kenny halving the deficit for Limerick in the second half.
