IF THE bookies are to be believed, then Adare need not show up on Sunday for the Munster Intermediate Football club final against Kenmare of Kerry. The showpiece, to be played in Mallow at 1.30pm, is priced up as having Kenmare as 1/16 favourites.
The form book of Kerry sides might be with Kenmare, but Adare were 10/3 outsiders in their semi final too and that ended in a three point win over Kiskeam.
Once more the West Limerick village side will rely on the services of Jeff Lohan, Shane Costello and Hugh Bourke, while Jack English at midfield and Diarmuid Sexton at wing back, coupled with centre back David Connolly and hard-working wing forward Davy Lyons, will look to stifle the Kerrymen’s attack.
Kenmare Shamrocks, winners by 3-11 to 0-7 over Kilfenora in their semi final can call on Kerry senior star Paul O’Connor and All-Ireland winning Kerry minor captain Seanie O’Shea. Kenmare’s full forward line is their most potent weapon and it is an area on which Adare will place huge focus domestically.
Live commentary on the game is being supplied by Limerick’s Live95fm as the game acts as a curtain raiser to The Nire of Waterford and Dr. Crokes in the Senior Final
