Otherkin: straight in and no kissing!

DUBLIN grunge pop band Otherkin came together in 2013 through a love of The Clash, QOTSA and The Ramones.

The band played the college circuit and anywhere in Dublin that would have them.

Nothing unusual there for any young band but what Otherkin have is songs, damn bloody good songs too. ‘Ay Ay’ from 2015 is an indie anthem, and the quality has risen since then with the ‘The New Vice’ EP featuring ‘Yeah, I Know’ and ‘I was Born’.

The band is making waves in the UK with festival appearances and radio support from Annie Mac (BBC Radio 1) and John Kennedy (Radio X). MTV Rocks added Otherkin videos to new music playlists.

“We want our records to be punchy, lean and blazing. Straight in, no kissing,” is Otherkin’s statement of intent.

Mission accomplished so far, says Clash Magazine (“uproarious, hugely infectious songwriting”), NME Magazine (“they’ll blaze a helter-skelter trail”) and Gigslutz (“could be the most exciting new band of the year”).

Otherkin play Kasbah Social Club this Saturday January 21.
