#BREAKING Woman fighting for her life after river rescue

A WOMAN is fighting for her life in hospital in Limerick tonight after she was rescued from the River Shannon.

During rush-hour traffic, a woman, understood to be in her 30s was seen entering the water near Arthur’s Quay.

At approx 18:23 emergency services including Limerick City Fire and Rescue were alerted to the incident.

On arrival Swiftwater Rescue Technician Firefighters from the Limerick City service entered the water.

An off duty firefighter and passerby had also entered the river and kept the woman afloat.

A passing boat assisted for approx 3/4 minutes until the Fire Service boat fireswift arrived on scene.

Limerick Marine Search and Rescue, Gardai and emergency paramedics attended the scene as the woman was brought to St Michaels boat club slipway where she was treated by Firefighters and HSE Paramedics.

She was brought to UHL where her condition is described as serious.
