IT WAS a case of perfect timing as Queen tribute band ‘Qween’ performed at Dolans Warehouse last weekend.

Perfect because the Queen biopic ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ starring Rami Malek hit cinemas in Ireland the same week – see review page 74. As you can see fro photographs there was a great atmosphere as fans of the legendary band enjoyed a night out with all their favourite songs from ‘We are the Champions’, ‘Killer Queen’, ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ and of course, ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, to name just a few.

Bringing the magic of Queen to life in Limerick last weekend were Kildare singer Brian Keville as Freddie, Dublin musician Tom Brunkard as Brian May, Graham Sheridan – also from Dublin, as Roger Taylor, Conall McMahon from Monaghan as John Deacon and keyboard player James McGeehan, from Donegal.

Some of the group used to feature in an 80s tribute band called Delorean, singing Queen songs during their set. Lead singer Brian even won a local Stars in their Eyes competition as Freddie a few years ago so it seems it was only a matter of time before they formed Qween. The fans certainly relished the chance to enjoy all the hits live at Dolan’s Warehouse!
