LIMERICK Institute of Technology (LIT) Students’ Union will host a walkout in protest of the lack of funding in Higher Education as part  Union of Students in Ireland’s national campaign called ‘Fund The Future’.

The Union of Students in Ireland (USI) alongside LIT Students’ Union recommends to Government that immediate investment is needed to secure a sustainable future for higher education in Ireland. They are coming together to warn the government that continued delay in addressing the deficit in third level funding is not acceptable.

LIT Students’ Union Vice-President Jade Foynes, who is also incoming Students’ Union President said, “We must stand together and tackle the issues that students are facing. Enough is enough.”

The SU Vice-President said with a rise in the cost of living over the past number of years, the SUSI grant made available to students has not increased accordingly and “this is putting pressure on students and their families.”

“Education is for all, and the cost to go to college should not be a barrier for any individual,” she said.
