THE third programme of the ‘Before Bach and After’ series comes to St Mary’s Cathedral this Thursday May 2 at 8pm. Chamber Choir Ireland presents a programme that alternates two Bach motets, a cantata and a fugue. This concert offers contemporary works by Julia Wolfe, Santa Ratniece and Anne Boyd as well as a vocal re-working of Bach’s Fuga V.
“This adaptation shifts the focus of the texts and indeed the musical inspiration significantly beyond and away from the Western tradition,” reports the choir’s conductor, Paul Hillier.
