SUNDAY September 1 is a date for everyone’s diary to support Milford’s Harvest Fair, the largest fundraiser in the Care Centre’s packed calendar.

UL’s campus is again home to the event that combines bargains of every variety, entertainment, child friendly kicks, fashion, food stalls and miscellaneous mischief.

Joe Murphy is long term chair of Milford’s Harvest Fair sub-committee and recently took up as chair of the Care Centre board.

Acknowledging the slightly reduced footprint to this year’s event due to construction on the UL campus, he promises Limerick Post readers, “We will have the same number of entries and the same number of events. We have free admission for everyone from 10.30am on and this is such a family day.

“We meet lots of people who say they are coming back again, who say they have had a good experience of the Centre, that was needed at that time in their lives.”

“People are vulnerable when they are here and they are supported.

“We have a number of activities during the year that are therapeutic in themselves such as the Remembrance Tree, the walk and the Harvest Fair.”

And from Milford Care Centre chief executive, Pat Quinlan said, “I am in awe of the amazing work done each year by the Fair’s committee and the large group of volunteers who give of their time.

“We could not achieve the level of fundraising we do without the volunteers. They complement the work of our wonderful in-house team and give of their time so generously and effortlessly. Fundraising is a very important element of our work as all the monies raised go towards the provision of our much needed specialist hospice services across the Mid-West.”

Quality donations for stalls will be accepted from Monday August 19 until Thursday  29, books for the first week only. Deliver to the goods acceptance area in Milford Care Centre located at the bottom of the carpark.
