Gardaí appeal for witnesses after man dies in Limerick road crash

GARDAÍ have appealed for witnesses to a fatal road crash in which a man in his 60s died in Co Limerick.

The single vehicle collision occurred near the Annacotty Business Park, on the outskirts of Limerick City around 2.30pm this afternoon.

Despite valiant efforts by emergency first responders to save the man, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Annacotty/Murroe Rd (5506) remains closed with diversion in place as gardai, ambulance, and units from Limerick City and County Fire and Rescue Service attend the scene.

Appealing for witnesses, a garda spokesman said: “Shortly before 2:30pm, Gardaí were called to the scene of a single vehicle road traffic collision involving a car, on the Murroe Road, Annacotty, Co. Limerick. A male in his 60s, the only occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.”

“The road is currently closed as Garda Forensic Collision Investigators examine the scene. Local diversions are in place.”

“Investigating Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward. They are particularly appealing to any road users who were travelling on this road at the time with camera footage (including dash-cam) to make this available to them,” the spokesman said.
