86 patients waiting for beds in Limerick hospital

86 patients admitted to University Hospital Limerick were waiting for beds this morning, according to figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO).

55 patients were on trolleys in the emergency department and a further 31 in overflow areas of wards.

The overall figure is 28 higher than the next busiest hospital.

The number of Covid patients being treated in UHL also increased over the weekend.

The latest report from the HSE shows there were 75 people being treated for the virus there this morning, up 18 on Friday’s figure, with eight patients in intensive care.
