Two man contest for Limerick GAA Chair

Outgoing Limerick GAA Chairman John Creegan

THE contest to succeed John Cregan as Limerick GAA Chairman will be a straight shoot-out between Seamus McNamara (Fr Casey’s/Abbeyfeale) and Seamus Twomey (Granagh/Ballingarry) as nominations closed on Tuesday night.

Cregan is stepping down from Chair but will remain on the County Board as Munster Council Delegate.

McNamara is current vice-chairman while Twomey is current Munster Council Delegate.

In another interesting contest, three are in the running for vice-chairman, namely Pat Davoren (Ballybrown), Frank Reidy of Feohanagh-Castlemahon, and Kildimo/Pallaskenry’s Emmett O’Brien.

Mike O’Riordan (Kilmallock) remains as Secretary, while Seán Burke of Crecora/Manister is unchallenged for the role of Treasurer, succeeding Liam Burke of Fedamore, who is front runner for a similar position with the Munster Council, on which Limerick is not represented at the top table.
