Recently discovered works by Sean Keating on the market for the first time at Fonsie Mealy’s

Fonsie Mealy’s presents an important Irish and International Art Sale on Wednesday, November 16, at the Chatsworth Auction Rooms, Castlecomer, County Kilkenny commencing at 12.30pm.
With over 400 lots, viewing will be available Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning previous to the sale.
The Sale offers for the first time a collection of over 30 Paintings acquired by the late Irish Patron of the Arts and Scholar – the late An tAthair Eric McFhinn.
These paintings, mainly by Sean Keating and Maurice MacGonigal, document in a poignant fashion, the hard times in Ireland in the 1940’s and 50’s
Amongst the lots are Limited and Signed Edition Prints, Drawings, Sketches, Watercolours, Oil Paintings, Sculptures, & a selection of Fine Wines & Whiskies, appealing to all pockets and pallets.
One Lot of particular Limerick interest, is an early work by one of Ireland’s most important living artists, John Shinnors (Lot 318) depicting the historical event of Patrick Sarsfield signing the Treaty of Limerick – this comes to the market for the first time.
The Kilkenny based auctioneers added, “We also offer a large painting by Mark Francis and works by other living artists such as Blaise Smith and David Goldberg.”
