All in a day’s work for Sinead at Specsavers

Sinead Clohessy

SINEAD Clohessy is modest as the owner of three Specsavers community practices in Limerick. What Sinead and her team do is in all in a day’s work for them – but it has positive ripples across their community, with the effects benefiting its very future.

The fact that the practices are locally owned and run is key for Sinead and her team, she says. Being on the ground places Sinead at the heart of the Limerick community, giving her an understanding and knowledge of its people and needs. Sinead leads a team that cares for thousands of patients and provides employment and careers for dozens of colleagues.

“Across our three stores we employ 70 people in Limerick and offer a great place to work. We are always looking to continue to grow and improve our business, ensuring we provide the best possible service for our local customers,” says Sinead.

“As the local practice owner, it is all about looking after Limerick and the surrounding areas. We want to care for and help our community. It’s about clinically showing them that as an optician’s we are here for your eye and ear care needs.”

Sinead’s team bring a broad range of expertise to her practices in Cruises Street, Crescent Shopping Centre and Castletroy.

Sinead is the Retail Director of all three Limerick stores and is often helping and serving patients alongside her colleagues on the practice floor. Sinead is joined by Ophthalmic Director John Harrington and Retail Director Anne Power in the everyday running of the business.

Playing a part in the local community is paramount to Sinead and the teams in Limerick. In the past, Sinead has headed up the team that held multiple fundraisers for charity partner the Hope Foundation, including glamourous fashion shows. In addition, they continue local sports clubs.

As to the future of the local community in Limerick, Sinead is looking at how to support the next generation by showcasing the incredible career that the eye and ear health sector offers.

“We plan to work with local schools, go in and talk about what we do. We want to make them excited about eye and ear care and the career it offers. We want them to choose optometry and audiology because they will be the future of Limerick.’
