A LIMERICK family have asked for their community’s help in raising funds for lifesaving treatment.
Limerick man Derek Reale was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer, metastatic melanoma, that requires specialist treatment delivered at the Sheba Medical Centre in Israel.
The family have created a crowdfunding campaign to help with the prohibitive costs.
“He has gone through every treatment available to him through the NHS — immunotherapy, targeted therapies. Recently, we received the devastating news that there are no further treatment options left for him in the UK,” an online post from the family stated.
“Hearing this has been heartbreaking. But we are not ready to accept that this is the end of the road.”
