LONDON based professional musician, Libby Key will be singing with platinum-selling artist Dermot Kennedy at his headline event this Sunday at All Points East Festival, London.

Libby is a granddaughter of the late Maureen Tyrrell from Main Street, Abbeyfeale (née McCarthy).

Libby is one of eight hand-picked singers from the London Community Gospel Choir (LCGC) who will be singing with Dermot Kennedy at the festival. The choir closed the Glastonbury concert with Elton John for his last ever UK show in June this year.

Speaking about the upcoming concert, Libby says, “Dermot has a great voice, pens some beautiful lyrics and is all round a pleasure to work with. This is a real honour for me. It will be a unique opportunity to bring the sounds of pop, Irish folk and gospel together.”

Aoife Nessa Frances

Music runs deep in Libby’s family. Her cousin is Aoife Nessa Frances, granddaughter of Patrick McCarthy who is also a singer and was named one of the ‘Best 50 Irish Music Acts Right Now” by The Irish Times. Aoife’s recent album ‘Protector’ was released in 2022. See https://aoifenessafrances.com/

“We come from a very creative Irish family. Our grandparents grew up in Abbeyfeale and between us, we are musicians, fiddle makers, tailors, artists, set designers, animators, illustrators, and storytellers. There must be something in the blood.” says Libby

Libby holds an MA in jazz vocals from the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama.  She is a member of Bazil Meade MBE’s London Community Gospel Choir and with them has performed for artists including Justin Timberlake, The 1975 and Freya Ridings at events including The Brits, The Graham Norton Show, BBC Live Lounge and Strictly Come Dancing.
