Celine Byrne graces the stage at University Concert Hall (UCH) on Sunday October 22 with a night of all-time classics.
Joined by the extraordinary talents of Cobhla Surlis, the harmonious voices of Cavan Cathedral Choir, and the gifted guidance of musical director Eileen Tackney, this event promises to be a captivating celebration of classical music.
Presented by TV presenter, Mary Kennedy, the night will be a journey through the timeless treasures of opera, operetta, cinema, musicals, and beyond.
Hailing from Kildare, Celine Byrne is a lyric soprano of unparalleled acclaim.
Celine received her Masters in Music from the Royal Irish Academy of Music in 2007, where she studied with Dr. Veronica Dunne, also receiving the RIAM award for outstanding achievement.
In addition, she has an honours Music Degree from the Conservatory of Music and Drama, Dublin, where she was awarded the college Gold Medal for excellence. She has received coaching at the National Opera Studio of London and has studied with Christa Ludwig at the Vienna Staatsoper. Celine is recognised nationally and internationally as one of opera’s great stars
This magical evening on October 22nd will be brought to life by the local producer, Don Mescall, who is also collaborating with Celine on her forthcoming studio album.
Don, a native of Ahane, ventured to London in the early nineties, and his songwriting prowess has left an indelible mark on the music world.
His first notable success came with “Road to Glory” recorded by Eleanor Shanley, and later his songs found their way to artists like Frances Black, who has recorded no less than nine of Don’s compositions.
