Limerick drivers paying third highest insurance premiums in Ireland

DRIVERS in Limerick pay the third highest costs for car insurance in the country.

The figures, released by Chill Insurance,  showed that, on average, Limerick drivers were paying €779 a year for their car insurance.

Longford topped the table with an average premium of €915, followed by Louth at €803.

According to Chill, car insurance premiums are higher in areas that have increased rates of crime and likelihood of the car being stolen.

Adding extra drivers to a policy, increasing voluntary excess, and shopping around are some of the ways drivers can bring insurance costs down.
