THE BODY of a Limerick man, reported missing earlier this week, was recovered from the water at Ardnacrusha following a three-day search.

The body was recovered at the headrace canal at the Ardnacrusha hydroelectricity power station on Thursday afternoon.

The man’s body was taken by boat to Pier Head Killaloe and to University Hospital Limerick mortuary.

Gardaí and local search teams, including a Killaloe Coast Guard unit, had been searching the canal and surrounding land banks after a man was reported missing last Tuesday.

“Following a search and recovery operation of the canal in Ardnacrusha, County Limerick, and surrounding areas this week, the body of a man was recovered from the water on Thursday afternoon, 15th February 2024,” a Garda spokesman confirmed.
