A BALLYNEETY homeowner woke up to find themselves €5,000 worse off after a thief made away with expensive equipment overnight.

That’s according to Crime Prevention Officer Sergeant Ber Leetch, who said that thieves cut the lock on the Ballyneety man’s gate and shed, taking a power washer and generator worth over €5,000.

“What concerns me is the amount of people who use this type of equipment or tools are the ones that purchase it in suspicious circumstances,” Sergeant Leetch said, warning purchasers only to buy from legitimate sources.

She advised owners to mark their property with their Eircode, making it more difficult to sell on.
