Court date set for man arrested in connection with €80,000 cocaine haul

A MAN who was arrested in connection with a seizure of €80,000 worth of suspected cocaine was given bail this morning after receiving charges.

The seizure took place on Wednesday morning in Kileely, County Limerick, under Operation Tara, an operation run as part of the national anti-drugs strategy introduced by Garda Commissioner Drew Harris in 2021 to disrupt, dismantle, and prosecute drug trafficking networks.

The man, aged in his 50s, was arrested after €80,000 in suspected cocaine – which is to be analysed by Forensic Science Ireland – was found during a search of a residential premises in Kileely by Gardaí operating out of the Limerick Divisional Drugs Unit.

According to a statement from An Garda Síochána, the man was charged and given bail this morning (Friday) and is due to appear before Limerick District Court on April 22.
