Limerick schools to get €3million funding boost

Education Minister Norma Foley.

LIMERICK schools are set to get a €3.4million funding boost from the Department of Education to support digital learning and minor school building works.

Minister for Education Norma Foley made the announcement this past week that will see primary, secondary, and special education schools across Limerick city and county get a share of a €50million fund for information and communications Technology (ICT).

Separately, a €29million nationwide fund has been announced that will go towards minor building works in primary schools and special education schools.

The ICT funding will go towards helping schools to continue using digital technology for teaching, learning, and assessment, while the building funds can be used for small-scale improvements to schools buildings or grounds.

Announcing the education funding, Minister Foley said that digital technologies have become important in Ireland’s schools, and that it offers benefits to young people.
