Over €1million funding awarded to Limerick sports clubs

MORE than €1million in funding was awarded to 40 local Limerick sports clubs last week by Sports Minister Thomas Byrne.

The allocation came under the latest funding round of the Sports Capital and Equipment Programme and saw €1.3m awarded to Limerick organisations.

Among those to receive funding are: Shannon Rowing Club (€154,000), Athlunkard Boat Club (€91,200), St Michael’s Rowing Club (€70,000), Limerick Desmond School League (€62,800), Dromore United (€64,000), Tarbert Rowing Club (€55,500), Limerick Celtics Basketball  (€51,500), Cappamore Celtic (€46,300), Dóchas (€44,800), Castleconnell Boat Club (€42,400).

Newcastle West RFC (€40,000), St Gabriel’s (€40,000), Greenmount Cycling Academy (€34,200), Limerick Kayak (€28,100), Templeglantine GAA (€26,400), were also awarded with funding.

Kilfinane Outdoor Educational Centre (€21,500), Bruff Pitch and Putt (€20,800), 13th Limerick Murroe Boher Scout Group (€5,001), Glin GAA (€20,347), Ardagh District Recreational and Sporting Unit (€18,513), Morning Star Basketball Club (€8,508), and West Limerick Athletics Club (€7,399), also got awards of funding.
