Revenue seize drugs worth €220,000 in Shannon Airport

Seven kilogrammes of herbal cannabis, cannabis infused jellies, and psychoactive substances were among the materials found in parcels originating from the USA, Canada, and Europe and destined for addresses in Limerick, Galway, and Cork.

OVER the course of the last two weeks, Revenue officers based in Shannon Airport seized illegal drugs with an estimated value of over €220,000.

The illicit drugs were discovered by Revenue officers as a result of risk profiling, in parcels originating from the USA, Canada, and Europe, which were destined for addresses in Limerick, Galway, and Cork.

A revenue spokesperson said that among the materials seized were seven kilogrammes of herbal cannabis, cannabis infused jellies, and psychoactive substances.

No further information is available on the sweep of seizures and investigations are currently ongoing.
