Limerick projects awarded biodiversity funding

16 LIMERICK City and County Council projects have been awarded nearly €100,000 between them in funding from the Local Biodiversity Action Fund (LBAF).

Local authority projects such as Hedgerow Awareness, Wetlands Survey, Ecological Survey of Newcastle West Demesne, and Biodiversity Awareness Talks are among the 16 projects who have been awarded a share of a total of €2.8million in funding from Minister of State for Nature Malcolm Noonan to mark Biodiversity Week.

Sinead McDonnell, biodiversity officer with the local authority, said that the projects being funded “underscore Limerick City and County Council’s commitment to enhancing and protecting Biodiversity across the city and county.”
