PLANS to establish a working group on generational renewable farming has been described as “worthwhile” by one Limerick TD.
Fianna Fáil Minister Niall Collins welcomed the decision by Agriculture Minister Charlie McConalogue to establish a Commission on Generational Renewal in Farming in a bid to encourage young people into the sector.
“It can be difficult to encourage young people into a life in the agriculture sector so we need to examine the current supports that are in place and assess their effectiveness,” the Limerick Minister said.
“We need to consider whether the available supports are enticing young people into farming”.
