FINE Gael councillor Sarah Kiely hit out at motorists parking on double yellow lines and blocking the back alley lane in Parnell Street in Limerick City.
Cllr Kiely, who called on the Council to take action, claimed drivers are going up the lane the wrong way and obstructing the Parnell side entrance.
The Council explained that, arising from the taking in charge of the laneway, its surface has been upgraded and line marking has begun, and is awaiting completion, adding: “Enforcement will be arranged on an ongoing basis to enforce the new parking arrangements on this laneway.”
In relation to motorists driving the wrong way, they deemed this a matter for An Garda SÃochána to enforce under relevant road traffic legislation.
