A NEW G4D (Golf for the Disabled) contest between Europe and the USA will be staged during the 2027 Ryder Cup in Adare Manor as part of the competition’s 100th anniversary celebrations.
The world’s best golfers living with a disability will compete at Ballyneety Golf Club, the venue for the 2027 Junior Ryder Cup, from September 13-15.
Each team will consist of both male and female players, who will play mixed foursomes on day one and mixed fourballs on day two.
Further details on the selection criteria and the team captains for Europe and the USA have yet to be announced.
The presenting partner of the match will be Ei Electronics, a global leader in the development and manufacture of home life safety solutions, who are headquartered in Ireland.
The new G4D Ryder Cup is the latest chapter in the European Tour group’s G4D story. The European Tour group has operated the annual G4D Open in partnership with The R&A since 2023, as well as staging G4D tournaments at DP World Tour events.
With support by the Government, Minister for Culture, Communications, and Sport, Patrick O’Donovan said: “I am proud that Ireland is playing a leading role in delivering this landmark
event. The G4D Ryder Cup is a powerful statement of our commitment to inclusive sport and to ensuring that opportunities at the highest level are open to everyone.”
“Hosting this match in Limerick, alongside the 2027 Ryder Cup, will leave a lasting legacy, not just for golf, but for disability sport across Ireland.”
Leo Clancy, CEO of Ei Electronics, said the company is “delighted to be the presenting partner for the inaugural G4D Ryder Cup in 2027″.
“As an Irish-owned company, committed to the Mid West region, this opportunity is a natural fit with our ethics and commitment to social responsibility. We are proud to help enable the world’s best golfers with a disability to compete for the first time as part of the Ryder Cup’s 100th anniversary celebrations.”
