Garda injured in Kilmallock street brawl

A GARDA was among those injured when a fight broke out amongst a family on the streets of Kilmallock on Saturday night.

Up to fourteen men and women were involved in the brawl, a number of whom suffered minor injuries.

Sgt Mick Divilly of Bruff Garda Station told the Limerick Post that gardaí were alerted to the incident in the town, which led to the arrest of two individuals.

“The fight broke out on the street in the early hours of Sunday morning, about 1am, after a family had visited a few pubs in the town”, said Sgt Divilly.

“A butchers window was broken and some flower pots were disturbed”.

He added that a garda who was attempting to bring an end to the riot suffered minor injuries.

Two men were arrested and have since been released. They will appear in court in September in connection with the incident.

Sgt Divilly said further arrests may be made.
