ST Mary’s Cathedral is the atmospheric host to happy concerts this Christmas. Set aside a couple of hours the night of Thursday December 11 to enjoy ‘the Magic of Christmas’, described as “a unique evening of festive favourites and songs from the shows”, 8pm.
Setting it apart is focus on ticket sales to help Catherine McCauley School, Ashbourne Avenue whose pupils will provide chorus to a team of three superb professionals. These are Helen Houlihan, soprano and baritone Owen Gilhooly of Mid-West Vocal Academy with Irina Dernova to accompany on piano.
Mulled wine and mince pies will scent the soaring notes so buy your ticket from the school: €20, tel. 061-228281 between 10am-2.30pm.
