New music from Aileen & Sticks

CLARE based duo Aileen & Sticks (aka Aileen Downes and Brian Bermingham) have released a new single.
The song is called ‘Saoirse’ which translates as “freedom” in Irish and the use of language is the spark for an exploration into how meaningful and beautiful phrases in the Irish language can be lost in translation sometimes.
Aileen gives an example of Tá brón orm which translates as “there is sadness on me” as opposed simply saying you are sad giving it a different meaning.

The song was written and sung by Aileen Downes, recorded by Brian Bermingham (Sticks) with electric guitar, strings and piano supplied by frequent collaborator John Steele who also produced and mixed the track. Mastered by Richard Dowling at WAV Mastering with sleeve artwork by Tady Walsh ‘Saoirse’ by Aileen & Sticks is out now on all streaming platforms.
