LIMERICK City and County Council is actively accommodating the provision of private sector affordable homes in Limerick City, Newcastle West, Abbeyfeale, Kilmallock and Castleconnell.

That was the response to a notice of motion from Independent Councillor Jerome Scanlon who called for either Limerick City and County Council or the Housing Agency to provide land for private sector affordable homes.

At this month’s Newcastle West District meeting, Senior Executive Officer, Sarah Newell explained that the council is providing advance purchase opportunities for accelerated delivery of affordable homes.

This is available for eligible applicants nominated by the local authority in areas where a significant need for affordable housing has been identified,” she said.
