ALMOST €6million in capital funding is to be given to three third-level educational institutions in Limerick as part of the Government’s Devolved Capital Grant scheme.

The scheme aims to allow third-level campuses to become more energy efficient, undergo health and safety works, or perform minor upgrade and refurbishment works.

As part of the scheme, Technological University of the Shannon will receive €2,973,963, University of Limerick will get €2,220,319, and Mary Immaculate College will benefit from €673,959.

Welcoming the capital funding allocation, local senator Maria Byrne said: “Students and staff will reap the benefits of this funding with much improved facilities.”

“It’s a priority of mine that we keep funding our third-level institutions to ensure the best student experience possible for all.”
