The funding was announced by Coimisiún na Meán (CNaM), Ireland’s independent media regulator.

Almost €10m was awarded across three journalism schemes supporting roles, in-depth content, and coverage of topics at risk of under-reporting.

Close to €3m was awarded under the Digital Transformation Scheme for digital upskilling and modernising of media infrastructure. And €3m was awarded under the News and Current Affairs Independent Commercial Television Scheme to bolster nationwide news coverage.
