THE ancient traditions and fears associated with May Eve (including the sprinkling of holy water) will be recalled on Knockfierna this Thursday (April 30).

A meeting will take place in one of the pre-famine thatched cabins situated on the hill from 6.30pm, in which botanists and authors Albert Nolan and Jim McNamara will talk on the flora and fauna of the local area as participants walk through the hillside with its panoramic views.

Pat O’Donovan will speak about the fears and traditions of May Eve and the decline of the population in 1840.

For further details contact Pat O’Donovan at 087-9977340. All are welcome.
